As Alberta grows and changes, so does the need for registry services. If there's a new opportunity for registry services in your area, or if the ownership of your local registry is ready for a change, you could become a registry agent.
There are two ways you can become a registry agent:
You can only start a new registry when the Government of Alberta, Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, announces a new opportunity.
When there is a registry opportunity available, it will be listed on the Alberta.ca and Alberta Purchasing Connection. The Government of Alberta will outline what steps you need to take to apply.
Please note that Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction does not accept unsolicited proposals to start a new registry.
Did you know? All registry agents in Alberta are private businesses.
If you become aware of a registry that is for sale, you must work directly with the seller to facilitate the purchase. You may find registries for sale in a variety of ways, like Kijiji, Classifieds, or various business-for-sale websites.
If you do find a registry for sale, and you come to an agreement to purchase it, you will still need to be approved as an owner by Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction.
